Emsdetten September 2026 – A three-day city festival featuring music, dancing, good food, and a wide variety of activities
From September 25 to 27, downtown Emsdetten will once again become a huge festival area
This year’s Emsdetten September Festival will once again bring together music and dance, international cuisine, the hustle and bustle of a flea market, hands-on activities for families, and plenty of festive city vibes. Top-notch entertainment is guaranteed on the stages over the three days—and during the long shopping weekend, local stores invite you to stroll and shop.
Friday evening traditionally kicks off with the official opening of the city festival. Afterward, the musical entertainment continues right away on the stages: On the Volksbank Stage on Frauenstraße, the Münster-based group Your Decade takes the audience on a musical journey through the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s. Meanwhile, at Brink, it’s “Beats am Brink”: DJ Alle und Jeder will provide the perfect soundtrack for dancing at the Open Air Club Night, spanning a wide range of genres, while HK Dance will get the crowd moving on and in front of the Sparkassen Stage with dance moves and powerful beats. So there’s something for every musical taste right from Friday evening.
Saturday: Flea Market, Dancing, Soul, and Global Hits
Saturday gets off to a relaxed and varied start. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the large downtown flea market—with around 100 booths on Rathausplatz—invites you to browse, haggle, and discover. At the same time, the morning beer concert on the Sparkassen Stage at Brink ensures a convivial start to the festival day. In the afternoon, the area around the stages comes alive with a colorful and varied lineup: children’s music with Corinna Bilke, the Wolters Family, dance shows by Emsdetten’s dance clubs, the Q-Uni from Münster with hands-on science activities, and other program highlights promise entertainment for the whole family.
In the evening, the focus shifts to music: The Soulphonics will take the stage at the Volksbank Stage on Frauenstraße. The eight musicians from Münster will bring soul classics and modern grooves to Emsdetten with heart, energy, and good cheer. At the same time, the Brink will be transformed into a large concert stage: Elton and the Joels will bring the greatest hits of the two music legends, Elton John and Billy Joel, to the Sparkassen Stage in a rousing tribute show. And even after the official stage program ends, the evening is far from over: Anyone who wants to keep the party going can wrap up the night at one of Emsdetten’s restaurants.
Sunday: Family Sunday and the Premiere of the Detten Urban Run
Sunday morning will be all about sports with a premiere: To mark the 40th anniversary of the Emsdetten Running Club, the Detten Urban Run will take place for the first time. The start and finish lines are right in the city center. Afterward, the city center belongs to families: Dance performances by Emsdetten’s dance clubs, live music on the stages, and numerous other activities will ensure a varied afternoon. A special highlight is StandArt’s interactive circus, where the whole family can get involved and get a taste of circus life.
There’s also plenty of musical entertainment on Sunday. Despite renovations on the Sandufer, the Rockini still wants to perform at the city festival and has quickly moved its Sunday program—featuring Cosmo Thunder and singer-songwriter Thorsten Frahling—to Rathausplatz. Additional interactive activities on Sunday invite visitors to take a stroll through the entire city festival grounds.
Three Days of Emsdetten’s September Festival
The popular International Village, featuring specialties from around the world, provides a multicultural atmosphere throughout the festival. Dedicated Emsdetten clubs invite visitors to sample, savor, and linger here, making the culinary offerings an integral part of Emsdetten September.
Those who’d like to combine their visit to the city festival with a shopping spree will also have the opportunity to do so: During the extended Saturday and Sunday shopping hours, Emsdetten’s retailers invite you to enjoy a relaxed shopping experience—combined with the “Heimatshoppen” campaign and an attractive raffle.
The Emsdetten Tourism Association, together with all participants, is looking forward to a varied city festival weekend and cordially invites everyone to celebrate Emsdetten’s September together. On Sunday, the Kulturhof Deitmar will once again become a gathering place for food lovers, explorers, and families
Enjoy one last taste of summer, stroll through the market, and discover regional specialties: On Sunday (August 30), the Emsdetten Tourist Association invites you to the Kulturhof Market at Kulturhof Deitmar from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. As the summer vacation comes to a close, the market combines regional diversity, culinary delights, and a varied program of activities to create a special destination for the whole family.
Numerous farm stands, direct sellers, artisanal producers, and other exhibitors will showcase their products at Kulturhof Deitmar. The selection ranges from honey and eggs to cheese, yogurt, and cream cheese, as well as spices, herbs, spreads, pasta, fruits, and vegetables. Meat and game specialties, sheep products, spirits, nuts, and dried fruits, as well as handmade goods, are also part of what the market has to offer. Many of these items can be sampled right there on site and, of course, taken home to stock your pantry or as a small souvenir. What makes the Kulturhof Market special is the personal connection. As you stroll through the market grounds, you’ll meet the people behind the products, ask questions, and learn more about cultivation, production, and processing.
There’s plenty to satisfy even the heartiest appetite. A variety of food options invite you to enjoy a meal and linger a while. Among other things, you’ll find game specialties, snacks, and other delicacies. In the bakery, the oven is fired up to bake delicious bread. This provides the perfect opportunity for a cozy break in between, as well as a culinary finale to a leisurely visit to the market.
In addition to regional products and culinary offerings, entertainment is, of course, a must. A varied program of events ensures activity and social interactions throughout the market grounds. Giovanni Gassenhauer, as a traveling merchant with his mobile market cart and ukulele, will engage guests in the Kulturhof in lively conversations. The colorful stilt walker will soar high as she elegantly mingles among the visitors.
In this way, the Kulturhof Market combines enjoyment and information, regional charm and entertainment, market life and culture. Amid the special ambiance of the Kulturhof Deitmar, a place emerges where you can take your time: to browse, sample, chat, and linger—on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

It’s time to browse, haggle, and discover again: On Saturday (August 29), the Emsdetten Tourism Association invites you to the next downtown flea market on Rathausplatz from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Numerous private sellers have already set up their stalls—all the booth spaces are completely sold out.
So nothing stands in the way of a fun day of browsing the flea market. Amid the stalls, books, clothing, toys, household goods, decorative items, collectibles, and all sorts of little treasures from basements, garages, and attics are waiting for new owners. And as with any good flea market, the rule is: If you keep your eyes open, you’ll often discover exactly what you weren’t even looking for.
After browsing, you can round out the morning with a stroll through downtown or a visit to the weekly market. The Emsdetten Tourism Association looks forward to welcoming many visitors and to a lively flea market day on Rathausplatz.

If you can’t make it as a vendor on August 29, the next opportunity is already on the horizon: The next downtown flea market will take place on Saturday, September 26, as part of the Emsdettener September city festival. From 10 a.m. to 3 p. , visitors will once again be able to browse and haggle on Rathausplatz. Booth spaces are currently still available for this event.

This coming Sunday (July 5), all of Emsdetten will once again become one big treasure map for flea market enthusiasts. With around 300 sales booths, the garage sale is drawing a huge turnout again this year and promises a summer day full of discoveries, encounters, and little surprises.
From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., numerous households throughout the city will open their garages, yards, and driveways, inviting visitors to browse, haggle, and discover. Behind every garage door, different treasures await: books, clothing, toys, household goods, vintage finds, collectibles, or long-forgotten favorites looking for a new home.
The popular map showing all participating locations is now available online. It helps you plan your own flea market tour and ensures you don’t miss any of the many sales spots. “With around 300 locations, the whole of Emsdetten turns into one big flea market on this day. The variety is what makes it so special: you never know exactly what awaits you behind the next garage door,” says Luis Hemesath of the Emsdetten Tourism Association.
The garage flea market pairs especially well with a bike ride. Whether through residential neighborhoods or outlying areas—everywhere, sales stalls invite you to stop, browse, and linger. This way, the garage flea market becomes not only a bargain hunt but also a summer outing through the entire city.

When the Kulturhof Deitmar once again transforms into an atmospheric wine-growing village from June 26 to 28, visitors can look forward to more than just exquisite wines, culinary specialties, and live music. For the first time this year, all the mineral water at the Emsdetten Wine Festival will come exclusively from a regional partner: TÖFTES from Salvus Mineralbrunnen GmbH.
With this, the wine festival is expanding its network of local supporters to include another Emsdetten-based company. Salvus ensures that mineral water from Emsdetten is available at all wine and food stands. Whether as an accompaniment to the wines, a refreshing break between sips, or a non-alcoholic alternative—TÖFTES will be there for guests throughout the entire weekend.
“As an Emsdetten-based company, we’re happy to support events that bring people together and breathe life into the region. The Wine Festival has long been a fixture on the event calendar and offers the ideal opportunity to present our regional brand, TÖFTES, to a wide audience,” says Heike Schürkötter, managing director of Salvus, expressing her delight at the new brand presence. The tourist office is also pleased with the support, because: “The Emsdetten Wine Festival thrives on its special mix of guests, winemakers, and strong partners from the region. That’s why we’re very pleased to have TÖFTES from Salvus by our side as another Emsdetten-based supporter for the first time. The fact that the mineral water will come from Emsdetten at all booths in the future fits perfectly with the character of our wine festival,” says organizer Lukas Tecklenborg.
From June 26 to 28, visitors to the Kulturhof Deitmar can once again look forward to a varied program featuring wine, cuisine, and live music. In addition to winemakers from Rhineland-Palatinate, Emsdetten-based winemaker Mathias Meimberg, wine merchant and restaurateur Alpár Jegenyés, and “Kennertropfen” from Altenberge will also be represented. Culinary offerings range from pasta made from a whole Parmesan wheel to antipasti and burgers, as well as Hungarian specialties. “Double Tuff” will provide musical entertainment on Friday, and “SOULFOXX” on Saturday. Sunday will be dedicated entirely to Family Day, featuring various games and hands-on activities for children and families.

Three days of enjoyment, live music, and a summery atmosphere
From June 26 to 28, the Kulturhof Deitmar will once again be transformed into a lively wine village. Visitors can look forward to familiar faces, select wines, culinary specialties, and a varied program for the whole family.
Once again this year, seven renowned wineries from Rhineland-Palatinate will be on hand, bringing their latest wines and popular classics to Emsdetten. The wineries Huf, Jostock-Bülhoff, Zehnthof/Eller, Decker & Sohn, Becker, Brummund, and Brunnenhof Strupp are looking forward to reconnecting with the Emsdetten audience. Rounding out the lineup are winemaker Mathias Meimberg and Emsdetten-based wine merchant and restaurateur Alpár Jegenyés. “Kennertropfen” from Altenberge will also be back, presenting a selection of fruit brandies and fine spirits.
It’s not just wine lovers who will find something to their liking: a diverse range of culinary offerings awaits guests throughout the festival grounds. From pasta made from a whole wheel of Parmesan to antipasti and panini, as well as burgers, Hungarian specialties, and popular snack classics—there’s something for every taste. At the Kulturhof kiosk, the catering team from Stroetmanns Fabrik offers a selection of beer, soft drinks, and spritzers to complement the wine. And for the first time this year, TÖFTES mineral water from Salvus in Emsdetten will be available at all stands as a refreshing accompaniment to the wine.
Musically, the wine festival provides the perfect setting for balmy summer evenings at the Kulturhof every day. On Friday, the duo “Double Tuff” will set the mood with well-known hits spanning several decades. On Saturday, “SOULFOXX” will take the stage at the concert shell with a mix of blues, jazz-rock, funk, and soul.
Sunday is once again all about families. In addition to modern brass music from the Kolping Wind Orchestra, there will be various games and hands-on activities for children and families. To wrap up the weekend, Happy Hour starting at 5 p.m. invites you to relax and bring the wine festival to a close with one last glass of wine.
The Emsdetten Wine Festival is once again supported this year by Kreissparkasse Steinfurt, Stadtwerke Emsdetten, and Volksbank Emsdetten. The Emsdettener Volkszeitung is once again the media partner.
The wine festival opens on Friday, June 26, at 4 p.m. (wine served until midnight). On Saturday, drinks will be served starting at 2 p.m. (also until midnight). And on Sunday, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., visitors are invited to enjoy themselves and linger at the Kulturhof Deitmar.

Anticipation is building for the Kultur_Picknick on June 18 in Emsdetten: A few tickets are still available for the second edition of this unique event. The Kunstverein Galerie Münsterland and the Emsdetten Tourist Association are hosting an evening that combines art, cuisine, and a shared experience as part of the Münsterland-wide Picnic Days.
Under the theme “From the Exhibition to the Folding Chair,” the evening begins at 7 p.m. with an exclusive guided tour of the exhibition *Oase Emsdetten* by Oliver Gather and Katharina Maderthaner. Niina Valavuo, the artistic director of Galerie Münsterland, will provide fascinating insights into the works and the background of the exhibition.
Afterward, the Kultur_Picknick will move to the RV park across from Galerie Münsterland. There, guests will find a picnic basket filled with regional and seasonal delicacies as well as Töftes cold drinks. In a relaxed atmosphere, art lovers and food enthusiasts can wind down the evening together. Should the weather not cooperate, the picnic will simply take place right in the middle of the exhibition.
Following the successful winter edition in January, the Kultur_Picknick continues its tradition of combining cultural experiences with social enjoyment. The event is part of the “Picknicktage des Münsterland e.V.”, which highlights special locations and moments of shared enjoyment in the region.
Tickets cost 25 euros per person and are available through LocalTicketing until June 11.
