Calendar of events for Emsdetten

In the footsteps of Annette von Droste-Hülshoff, certainly the most famous female poet, the high moorland area "Emsdettener Venn" will be presented on 19 September (Saturday) at 6.30 pm under the motto "Oh, it's scary to walk across the moor...". will be presented.

An approx. 2 ½ -hour moorland walk in the fens is a challenge for the eyes, ears, nose and senses. Is there really a spring under every step, does the hay rustle and is it really spooky? It certainly makes sense to take a guardian angel with you!

Reality and fantasy make for two entertaining hours and then the question:

"Was it really scary to walk across the moor?

Three days, three stages and lots of partying: the "Emsdettener September" town festival on the last weekend of September (25-27 September) once again attracts visitors with lots of music and great live acts on three stages, with market hustle and bustle in all parts of the town centre, a flea market on the town hall square on Saturday, international specialities, dance, acrobatics and theatre for kids as well as an open shopping Sunday.

Flea market in the middle of the city: at the city centre flea market for the Emsdettener September city festival on 26 September (Saturday), hobbyists and hobby traders will ensure a colourful market atmosphere on the town hall square. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., there will be lots of junk, unexpected finds, discarded items and guaranteed bargains. A visit to the flea market can be wonderfully combined with a stroll through the Emsdetten September town festival, the weekly market and the town centre - and promises to be a successful Saturday morning.

The tourist office does not have its own ticket contingent, but will of course be happy to help with any questions or problems relating to ticket purchases.

Stand dimensions: 3x2 metres

Set-up from 9 am, dismantling from 3 pm

Pavilions/trailers or other objects are only permitted if everything fits on the stand area (3x2 metres).

Detten Urban Run – A special sporting debut to mark the 40th anniversary of the Emsdetten Running Club (LGE) – The run takes participants through the town centre at a leisurely jogging pace, with no timekeeping. The focus is on enjoying the run and the shared experience – registration for the run is now closed – come and cheer on the runners along the route!

A big interactive circus in the town centre featuring the performers from StandArt, in collaboration with the Emsdetten Youth Welfare Office and ‘Nachtfrequenz’, at Kleiner Brink in front of the Family Office

A giant football-themed dartboard featuring the Kolping summer camp and other interactive activities, including the big raffle organised by the Friends of St Franziskus Nursery, as well as information stands run by the THW and Rockini Emsdetten on the Town Hall Square.

The end of the flea market season 2026: KauFRAUsch - Late Night Edition! Visitors can shop for high-quality second-hand women's fashion, accessories, jewellery and shoes in an atmospheric after-work atmosphere. Music and refreshing drinks provide the perfect atmosphere.

Stroetmanns Fabrik will also be opening its doors on Saturday (10 October) from 11 am to 3 pm for KauFRAUsch.

For the KauFRAUsch, the tourist office charges 2 euros admission for all visitors aged 14 and over. Catering will be available for short breaks from jumbling.
